Utah Online Driver Education Course

Once you have obtained your learner’s permit, if you’re under 19, taken a driver education classroom, either sit down or online, and completed your 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction with a certificated instructor, you are ready to take a skills test.

How Can You Prepare for the In Vehicle Test?

In order to pass the skills test you need to be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the rules of the road and that you have mastered basic driving skills.

  • Know What You’re Doing

The best advice for preparing for the in vehicle test is to practice. The State of Utah requires forty hours of behind the wheel supervised instruction with a parent or guardian, thirty hours of day time driving hours and ten hours of night time driving hours.

The more hours you practice behind the wheel the more skilled and confident you will become as a driver. Spend extra time perfecting maneuvers you may find difficult.

Becoming a good driver means exhibiting sound judgment and decision making skills. Practice driving in the same vehicle in which you will take your test and one that you’ll be driving after you get your license.

  • Be Alert and Ready

Get a good night’s rest and don’t skip meals before the day of the test to be at your best.

  • Bring What You Need

At the Driver License Division (DLD) you will need to bring your learners permit, own a car with proof of vehicle registration and insurance, and have proof that you took a driver education course with a qualified instructor along with enough money to pay for the licensing fees.
